Rob grew up in upstate New York, dividing his time between academics, athletics and outdoor activities. As someone who is both competitive and curious, Rob was drawn to financial markets and the challenge of investing at an early age. He graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in Economics and moved to New York City to pursue an investment career.
Before joining Whitney & Company, Rob spent over 20 years in equity research and portfolio management roles, primarily at Manning & Napier Advisors, Inc. and Bear Sterns & Company. During his time at Manning & Napier, he built a consistent track record of investment success which enabled him to become a partner in the firm and a member of the firm’s Senior Research Group.
In 2017, Rob decided to leave the corporate world to join Whitney & Company, where he was drawn to the firm’s family atmosphere and the opportunity to work more directly with clients. As Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Rob leads a research team that shapes the firm’s investment strategy and selects investments for client portfolios. He also works closely with a select group of clients, partnering with the firm’s financial planning team to help those clients address a broad array of financial challenges.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two children. A sports enthusiast, Rob is active in the Rochester tennis community and as a coach for several of his kids’ youth sports teams. He’s also served on an advisory board for a student-managed investment fund at SUNY Geneseo. He lives in Pittsford and is a member of the Tennis Club of Rochester.
