The Whitney & Company signature is creative design, unique features, fine detail, and consistently high quality. Whether you want the most current “Green" or Energy Star building techniques, a dazzling family room, or a one-of-a-kind kitchen or bath, our goal is to provide you with an innovative solution that meets your specific requirements.
We are supported by a staff consisting of a working supervisor, an office manager, a project support person, and our own team of carpenters. The advantage to you is that you will always be able to reach a person when you have a request, and that you will have Whitney & Company employees working in your home. Most of our subcontractors and suppliers are companies with whom we have long standing business relationships. This means that your job will be done to high quality standards and in a timely manner.
Our Professional affiliations include: The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), (formerly a National Director), American Institute of Architects, Allied Member, New Hampshire Builders and the Remodelers Association.
Whitney & Company projects have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Accent Magazine, Dream Kitchens and Portsmouth Magazine.
"Once we had an idea of what we wanted, we set about finding the designers and craftspeople who we thought could do the job. We worked with Whitney Saidla of Whitney & Company in Stratham because he is an inventor, designer, and architect who travels a lot in Europe. We knew he'd understand what we meant by a European-inspired kitchen."
Julia Madden in Accent Magazine, March/April, 2004. (See Julia's House in Renovations).

Water Architecture
We are working in a new area of Water Architecture. Our first project was completed in 2007. The four hundred square foot addition to a home sits 35 feet from tidal waters in Dover, New Hampshire. The design was done so that if the water level were to flood the property, the addition was designed to float while remaining in place. The foundation was fabricated in Cor-ten Steel and rests on the ground. The decks and exterior stairs were hinged and the ground was not disturbed during construction in any way.
It is our assumption that Water Architecture is desirable for the construction of residences and other structures which lie in tidal and flood prone areas. For example, we feel that homes built in the flood plain delta of New Orleans should be built using Water Architecture. These structures are inherently Hurricane proof. Their only susceptibility would be to being damaged by fast moving structures and debris which have not been secured. A cost analysis should be done to determine if Water Architecture is more cost competitive than constructing new dams and levies

Since 1998, Whit has focused on designing and building custom homes for clients who want to create something unique. Because Whit and his team build the projects he designs, it is a simple matter to be flexible as changes or opportunities arise.
